Homeopathy

Homeopathy

Since numerous years, Classical Hahnemannian Homeopathy is a fundamental part of my life. Here follow the salient points of my personal development.

My homeopathic life

As the official (allopathic) medicine couldn’t find a satisfactory solution to my health’s problems, I began the study of homeopathy by reading some French books, among which “Techniques homéopathiques” (Homeopathic Techniques) of Denis Demarque and the “Précis de Matière Médicale Homœopathique” (Handbook of Homeopathic Materia Medica) of Vannier and Poirier. I soon realized that the right way was Classical Homeopathy, as teached by Samuel Hahnemann and J.T. Kent. A little later I succeeded in finding — at an esoteric bookstore! — the two fundamental treatises on classical homeopathy: the english translation of the 5th edition of the Hahnemann’s “Organon” by Dudgeon and Kent’s “Lectures on Homœopathic Philosophy”. Then I studied the main books of the great classical Masters (Boenninghausen, Jahr, Hering, H.C. Allen, Nash, Roberts, Pierre Schmidt, etc.), particularly “The Chronic Diseases” of Hahnemann and “The Lesser Writings” of Kent. At the end of the seventies, I gradually began to introduce classical homeopathy in my everyday’s practice, with the help of Kent’s “Repertory” and several books on Materia Medica, particularly T.F. Allen’s “Handbook” and Clarke’s “Dictionary”.

So I’m mainly an autodidact, although later I went to the course of the Belgian School for Homeopathy too. Soon after the beginning of the eighties, I was practicing full time homeopathy.

On september 23, 1983, I submitted three clinical cases and a dissertation on “The New Symptoms” to the “Société Royale Belge d'Homœopathie” (Royal Belgian Society for Homeopathy) and so I became an active member of this Society.

I was the director of the “École Belge d'Homœopathie” (Belgian School for Homeopathy) during 13 years from March 1984 until July 1997.

Schoolyear 1984-1985

I introduced the systematic teaching of the “Organon”, the first fundamental book of Samuel Hahnemann (founder of Homeopathy) into the teaching programme of the 2th year and published a French version of the fifth edition of the “Organon”. This book, which contains the founding principles of Classical Homeopathy, had become unobtainable (the last French edition dated back to 1873). I had added to the French original a good many additions, suppressions and corrections, all based on the German original of 1833, as a detailed plan of the book. When I published it in 1984, it was the first time that such a work was presented to the French public (304 pages).

Schoolyear 1985-1986

I introduced the systematic teaching of the “Chronic Diseases” of Samuel Hahnemann into the teaching programme of the 3d year and reissued the French translation of the 2d edition of the “Maladies Chroniques” (The Chronic Diseases) with numerous additions and corrections based on the German original texts of 1835, 1837 and 1838. I had added numerous historical and theoretical notes to this book. It was a world first, because the complete text of this second fundamental book of Classical Homeopathy had never been published in the French language before (286 pages).

These two publications were a big hit in France, among the classical homeopathic practitioners.

I’ve written several in-depth articles about classical homeopathy, which were published by the “Revue Belge d’Homœopathie” (Belgian Journal of Homeopathy).

1988: I published the book “Connais-toi toi-même” (Know thyself), a French translation and adaptation of a Dutch original published in 1985 by my friend Frederik Schroyens (author of the well-known homeopathic repertory “SYNTHESIS”), which is destinated for the homeopathic patients, and to which I had added a 16 pages preface about the hahnemannian conception of the disease and the fundamental concepts as far disease and healing are concerned (Editions Creadif, Brussels).

I was Editor in Chief of “Caractéristique” (Characteristic), a magazine of homeopathic information for the patients, during 1 year from 1988 to 1989.

January 1988: I became Editor in Chief of the “Revue Belge d’Homœopathie” (Belgian Journal of Homeopathy), a magazine for homeopathic physicians. I took this responsability during 5 years from 1989 to decembre 1993.

Now, I’m writing a big fundamental and systematic treatise on Classical Homeopathy for homeopathic practitioners (doctors), which I hope to be able to publish in a few months or years.
